THE FLAW OF WILDFLOWER (FILIPINO TV SHOW)
I don't get hooked to Filipino drama easily because it's all the same, the plot is repetitive, there's nothing unique about them, the acting is cringe worthy, and the lighting, production, and the music is always off-that said, I got hooked to a Filipino TV show called Wildflower for a month.
Wildflower revolves around this girl named Lily Cruz who lost her parents to these group of corrupt politicians named Ardiente, she was then adopted by a rich businesswoman and is now seeking revenge with her new identity as Ivy Aguas. The plot is just like any Filipino drama, but there's something unique about them that I got hooked to them, well, not at least I used to.
WHAT IS THE FLAW OF WILDFLOWER?
The story is boring, most of the time, then a twist will happen then it will get interesting again, then it becomes boring again, then another twist will happen. These twists manages to prolong the show's life (which is becoming the show's weakness). An example of these twists are: Lily found her mother and helped her restore her memories; a character named Jaguar is trying to destroy the Ardiente; a childhood friend of Lily's proclaims that she is the true Lily Aguas; Mayor Ardiente was exposed to the public that he is guilty of murder, etc.
Another flaw of the show are the plot holes, most Filipino TV shows are no exception from plot holes, but they always tend to create plot holes as if us Filipinos should just get used to it, as if its a normal thing! An example of the show's plot holes are: Lily Cruz grabbed the chance to get the gun from Arnaldo, but instead of clicking the gun knowing the full consequences that if she doesn't kill this man she'll be killed and tortured instead she didn't and the man knocked her cold. Plot holes like this is one of the many factors of making the show boring, also there is Lily Cruz usual line "this is part of my plan" as if that line alone is enough to hide the show's plot hole.
The writing is another flaw that the show should look at. If I have a dollar for every time a character said the name "Ardiente" I would have enough money to create a show that wouldn't suck like this. Also the choice of words is so bad, and the words extras and cameos utter in this show is cringe inducing. Another mistake of the writers is not taking advantage of using the climax to the fullest, just like normal shows would do. An example of this: Lily's mother-in-law (Mayor Ardiente's mother) hired a bunch of men to rape her, and instead of confronting her or suing her like any normal human being would do, she did nothing and forgave her. WTF?!?!?

The Ardiente's vast amount of money, this doesn't make sense-they got caught for money laundering and are only politicians of a small barrio and are still rich despite all of their controversies. I know that the country's government is really shitty, but if this is happening in real life, the Ombudsman or the Supreme Court would have already investigating them. [edit 10/12/17: looks like they were bribing the Ombudsman and now there's a possibility for Julio Ardiente to be bailed for attempted murder, the fuck?!?]
Mayor Arnaldo Ardiente committed suicide, is miraculously saved; he was shot in the head, and is miraculously saved. Apparently this guy is more divine than Jesus, Jesus only had to resurrect a single time to prove his point, but this guy resurrected from the verge of demise twice.
The Royal Wedding-how can the army not hold a bunch of people in their place if they have acquired a military helicopter, a battle tank, and a platoon of soldiers. Also, why is it considered a Royal Wedidng, its a wedding held between a rich businesswoman and a mayor of a small time barrio of the country's province.
Julio Ardiente's cancer, this guy is diagnosed by cancer but instead of crippling due to his sickness, he has enough energy in his system to order assassination for various characters and drink wine as if its water. Tyrion Lannister would be so jealous of this guy's power.
Jaguar. This guy is more of a disappointment than those killer clowns seen in the US last year, this guy is useless in the story, and is only used a twist to captivate the watchers. After his story was added he became nothing and the story moved on with not much character development for his character.
Also, Ivy and Julio. How come both of them still has some credibility despite not doing a single ounce of work. I've seen Ivy do some work, but the times she is plotting to avenge her family is overshadowing the times she has worked in the series.
There's a lot of fault in this show and if you are a Filipino or a foreigner watching this show with English subtitles, I'm advising you to stop watching this show, its literally killing your brain cells and logical thinking the more you watch it.
